Yes, just check the No Sound box in Layer to remove the sound from a video.
As for cutting the video, do you still need help with that?

Can not turn off sound from a .mp4 video
using Edit Slide Sounds tab - Slide Sounds Off
(Precise Setting). No track for the video sound. 
Should I use a video editor to remove the sound
