Is it possible that an animation effect was applied to this slide? One of the zoom presets in the Animation tab is really strong and could produce an effect like the one you describe...

Generally, you edit the photo position in the slide editor - double-click on the slide to open it.
But this sounds weird to me:

When i drag a photo to the storyboard or timeline the photo shows up zoomed in on the playback screen so only a small portion of the photo can be seen. How do i get the photo to look the same on storyboard and the playback screen.
