is it slow as Proshow?

It all depends on how long your video clip is I guess, as well as from lots of other factors such as your computer system performance.

Is it possible to separate audio from the video track and manage the volume curve?

Is it possible to speed-up the video?

Not in the current version I'm afraid.

Is it possible to easily set the start point and ending point of a video?

Yes, that's totally easy (the Cut option is shown in video demo above)

Does this software allow to import MP4 files without problems?

Sure, just as any other common video format.
