There could be a number of reasons for that: the disc already has some data on it and is not rewritable, the disc could be damaged, etc. So it's most likely a hardware problem.

I created my project and then went to burn it to a CD so that I could watch it on my dvd player but I get a message that says " cannot write to this disc.
