Toni I have not transferred any large programs such as Word, but have done smaller ones and believe it would transfer most any you want to. Remember software compatibility problems may still occur between different OS such as you have mentioned for programing, however data is no problem at all.

Hi Gerald, does that really transfer progs with drag & drop? Even between, say, Windows Vista and 8? How about the registration, if the software was registered in Windows on my old computer?

You can get transfer programs. Radio Shack has a cable transfer that I use . Simple to use just hook firewire to both computers and a screen shows both operating systems then you click and drag programs or files to new computer.

When you bought the software, you received an "SmartShow3dFull.exe" program file. If you still have this along with your license code, then it should be easy to install it on your new machine!
